Work and education overlaps are people who worked at the same company, or studied at the same school, at the same time as you or a connector. The Swarm finds them automatically from public professional information, even if you aren't connected on LinkedIn.
Example
You worked at Acme from 2019 to 2022. Kate also worked at Acme in 2020. The Swarm adds Kate as a work overlap, so your team can see her current company and ask you for an intro.
How overlaps are found
Work: same company, overlapping dates and the role held there.
Education: same university, same degree, same graduation year.
Current colleagues are included.
We return up to 300 overlaps per company, sorted by how long you overlapped. Where there are more, we keep only people who overlapped for at least 3 months, then only people in the same location.
Overlaps are mapped for every user and connector automatically. Filter People by Source → Work Overlaps or Education Overlaps to see them. Expand Connection strength in a row to see the shared company and how long you overlapped.
What overlaps aren't
Overlaps don't use your LinkedIn connections, messages or any private data. LinkedIn connections and Google contacts are added separately, when users or connectors share them. See Import your LinkedIn connections.
