Share your network with an invite link

An invite link is one link your whole team, company or circle of investors and advisors can open to share their network with you. Instead of inviting connectors one by one, you post the link once in Slack, an email or a newsletter.

Written by Bee Keeper

Everyone who opens it can import their LinkedIn connections and Google Contacts & Calendar, and they're added to your team's network as connectors.

People who share through the link don't need a Swarm account and never see your team's data.

Set up your invite link (owners and admins)

  1. Go to Connectors and click Add Connectors.

  2. Open the Invite via link tab.

  3. Every team's link starts as Disabled, so nobody can use it yet. Choose who can use it:

    • Anyone with the link – best for investors, advisors and other external contacts.

    • Only people from @yourcompany.com – only people who verify an email address on your company domain can use it. Best for sharing inside your own company.

  4. Click Create Invite Link.

  5. Click Copy, or open Suggested message for ready-made Slack or email wording that already includes your link.

The company domain comes from the team owner's email address. If your team was registered with a personal address (such as @gmail.com), the company domain option isn't available. Contact support if your domain needs to be changed.

Tip: If you limit the link to your domain, say so in the message you share. People who enter an address on another domain won't receive a verification code.

Share your network through an invite link (connectors)

You'll get the link from someone on the team that's inviting you. The page says Share your network with [company]. Use a computer, not a phone – the import needs the Chrome extension or a file upload.

  1. Confirm your email. Sign in with Google, or enter your work email and click Send Code. Enter the 6-digit code from your inbox. The code expires after 15 minutes and works once.

  2. Confirm your LinkedIn profile. If we already know you, check that the name and profile shown are yours, or select Not me. Otherwise, paste your LinkedIn profile URL.

  3. Import your LinkedIn connections, using one of two methods:

    • Chrome extension (recommended): install it and stay signed in to LinkedIn. The extension reads your connection list. You can close the Chrome Web Store tab and return to the page.

    • Upload CSV export: request your connections export from LinkedIn and upload the file.

  4. Import Google Contacts & Calendar (optional). Google asks you to authorize access. Make sure Select all is checked.

  5. You'll see a confirmation that your network has been shared.

If you leave before finishing, open the same link again and confirm your email. You'll continue where you left off.

How long it takes and what gets added

Sharing takes about a minute with the Chrome extension. With a CSV upload, LinkedIn can take up to 24 hours to prepare the export before you can upload it.

After sharing, each person appears on your Connectors page. Their connections are added to your team's network once processing is complete, and then show up in search and intro paths like any other connector's. Depending on the sources they shared, this includes:

  • LinkedIn connections – their first-degree connections.

  • Google Contacts – people in their address book.

  • Google Calendar – people they've met with, which helps measure connection strength.

If your team reaches its plan's connector limit, new connectors are still added and their imports still run. They're shown as locked and don't use a seat until you upgrade.

Manage your link and connectors (owners and admins)

Open Connectors → Add Connectors → Invite via link and use the Who can join with this link? dropdown:

  • Switch access between Anyone with the link and Only people from @yourcompany.com. The change applies right away. If you narrow access to your domain, people who joined on another domain can't continue.

  • Turn the link off by selecting Disabled. Anyone who opens it, including people part-way through, sees that the link is no longer active. Imports already submitted still finish. Your previous setting is remembered, so you can turn the link back on from the same dropdown.

Connectors who joined through the link are managed like any other connector on the Connectors page. Removing a connector removes their connections from your team's network.

Manage or remove the connections you shared (connectors)

Sharing through the link doesn't create a Swarm account, so you can't view or edit the connections you shared.

  • To remove your connections: email support@theswarm.com and we'll delete them.

  • To see your connections in The Swarm: ask the team that invited you to invite you as a user. Once you've joined their team at app.theswarm.com, you'll see your connections there.

Privacy and security

  • Read-only access. The Swarm never posts, messages or connects on anyone's behalf.

  • Shared with one team only. Connections go only to the team whose link was used. Connectors never see that team's data.

  • Verified email. Every person proves they own their email address with a one-time code or Google sign-in before sharing anything.

  • Access is checked continuously. Disabling the link or changing who can use it takes effect immediately, including for people mid-way through.

  • Removable at any time. Connectors can ask support to delete their connections.

  • Certified. The Swarm is SOC 2 certified and GDPR and CCPA compliant.

Troubleshooting

I didn't receive a verification code. Check your spam folder, then make sure you used your work email. If the link is limited to a company domain, only addresses on that domain receive a code. Wait a moment before requesting a new one – a new code cancels the previous one.

The page says the link is no longer active. The team has turned the link off or changed who can use it. Contact the person who sent you the link.

My session timed out. Open the link again and confirm your email. You'll pick up where you left off.

I'm on my phone. Switch to a computer. The Chrome extension and CSV upload don't work on mobile.

A connector shared their network, but I don't see their connections yet. Processing can take a while after the import finishes. If they still don't appear, contact support.
