When a teammate knows someone you want to reach, ask them for an introduction straight from The Swarm. They get an email with your request and a message they can forward to the person.
Pick the right path
Look for Confirmed or Likely connections, using the Strength filter on People. These are the teammates most likely to know the person well. See How is connection strength calculated?
You can ask for intros to people your teammates know, but not to your own connections.
Send an intro request
Find the person on People or in a list.
Select the letter icon next to the teammate you want to ask.
Edit your message and the forwardable note, then preview it.
Send it.
Your teammate gets an email straight away. If the person is on a list, their status changes to Intro requested.
Personalise your message
You can use these variables in your message and the forwardable note:
{FirstName}– your teammate's first name{LastName}– your teammate's last name{TeamName}– your team's name{ProfileFullName}– the full name of the person you want to meet{ListTitle}– the list's name{ForwardableMessage}– the list's forwardable intro template
If the list has a forwardable intro template, it's added to the email automatically. See Create and manage lists.
Tips
Keep the forwardable note short and specific: who you are, why you want to meet, and why now.
Agree a rhythm with your team, for example sending intro requests in small batches once a month, so nobody gets overwhelmed. See Setting up processes.
